Interesting Agate? - found on Mackinac Island, MI?? Help!

I found this rock on the northern shores of Mackinac Island last weekend along with some gorgeous banded chert/flint. It caught my eye immediately. Is this some sort of agate? I found it very unusual. Thanks for any input!

It's opalized, if it's banded and almost impossible to scratch, it's agate as well.

It does look like agate, though some of those markings look almost like fossils. Not likely if it is agate. Agate would be a 7 on the mohs scale if you do a scratch test. See below:
