Lake Superior

Jaspers?

Jaspers?

These were picked up just north of Grand Marias, Minnesota on the shore of Lake Superior. I was perusing your site and came across jaspers and am beginning to work with collecting rocks, minerals, etc., but more importantly working with using a Dremel to find the insides of some stones. But, by some descriptions I do not see jaspers being mentioned as that far north. What do I have here? Worth exposing the insides?

Jaspers?

David,

I can't tell what you have from the picture. Maybe one of our readers will have some information for you about jaspers near Lake Superior.

Personally I would cut one to see what it looks like. Or use a tumbler and polish it up. I know there are lots of agate in that area.
